EZ Quilting Anything Goes illustration 1Make first cut about a third of the way up and down stack of squares (see illustration). Take one top piece (either side) and move to bottom of the pile. Sew each block together. Arrange stack of blocks in order from 1 to 9.

EZ Quilting Anything Goes illustration 2Make second cut at an angle, cutting larger piece in half from top to bottom (see illustration). Move two pieces from same side to bottom of stack. Sew each block together. Put blocks in order from 1 to 9

See illustration at right for suggestion on cutting border strips from 1 1/2 yds of 44" width fabric.

EZ Quilting Anything Goes illustration 10Cut six strips 3 1/2" x 12 1/2" (A). Sew between two blocks to sash a row of three blocks together as shown. Cut four strips 3 1/2" x 42 1/2" (B) borders and sew to each strip of three blocks, then add one strip to top and to bottom of quilt. Next add two side borders 3 1/2 x 48 1/2 (C). Baste together quilt top, batting and backing and quilt with various decorative stitches.

Binding
Create a crazy quilt uneven border by using the Flex Design Rule™. Bend the rule to the curve you want and trace along border. Create a curve for corners and flip the rule to mark mirror image of curve on opposite corners. This marked line will be your cutting line/edge of quilt, once binding is sewn in place.

To learn how to apply quilt binding, go to the Wrights® web site and refer to the 2 Step Binding instructions.

EZ Quilting Anything Goes illustration 9Apply binding to border, right sides together, by sewing 1/4" below marked line on inside of binding to front of quilt border. Once binding is sewn in place, cut along marked line being careful not to stretch edge of fabric. Fold binding over edge of quilt and sew to back of quilt border. Ease binding around curves, do not stretch fabric. Overlap the beginning and end by 1", trim off at an angle.

Finishing
Embellish top of quilt with surface treatments by adding trims, buttons, bows, rick rack, appliques and whatever else your imagination can think up....Anything Goes!

Don't forget to sign and date your quilt!
Enjoy!
