From each red and gold fat quarter, cut one 3 1/2" strip across 22". Using Companion Angle™, cut four quarter square triangles as shown. From Holiday print, cut 3 1/2" strips from width of fabric to cut 8 Companion Angle™ triangles. Using 1/4" seam allowances sew gold and print triangles together, then red and print triangles together. Sew together each gold/print unit to a red/print unit to make 4 blocks. Assemble 4 blocks as shown.
Cut out a boot shape with rounded toe and square heel from the pieced front.
Cut out two of the same boot shape from both the light colored fabric and the quilt batting as shown.
* NOTE Make sure boot is facing in correct direction before you cut fabrics. Layer boot front onto batting and light colored backing. Baste together, then starting in center, quilt in desired pattern toward sides of stocking. Layer boot back onto batting and backing, baste and quilt as desired. Baste sides of stocking front and back together, face of fabric facing out. Bind around sides and bottom of stocking using green fabric. For cuff, cut extra wide strip from printed fabric and iron in half lengthwise. Turn under hem 1/4" and sew around top of stocking. Add trim as desired to face of stocking. To finish, sew a strong hanger, (a loop of cord or trimming works well), inside the top of the boot. |
