- Easy Angle
- Tri-Recs Tools

Fabrics
- 10 Fat Quarters of a variety of 30's prints
- 2 yds. Vintage White
- 1/2 yd. Blue Solid for binding

Cutting Directions for Blocks
FROM CUT
Each Print 3 3" strips and subcut into:
    12 Tri pieces
12 Easy Angle triangles*
3 Squares 3" x 3"
Vintage White 14 3" strips and subcut into:
    120 Recs pairs
120 Easy Angle triangles*
*To save time at the sewing machine, lay the print and white fabric strips right sides together and cut the required number of triangles. They will then be ready to chain-sew.

Piecing Directions
Sew a Recs unit right sides together with a Tri unit, fitting the "magic angle" into the bottom corner of the Tri unit. Press towards the Recs unit. Add the remaining Recs unit to the other side of the Tri unit. Press towards the Recs unit (see illustration 1). Make 120 Tri-Recs units.

Sew the triangle pairs together and press towards the darkest fabric (see illustration 2).

Illustraion 3 Assemble the blocks using 4 matching Tri-Recs units, and contrasting corner triangles and center squares (see illustration 3). Make 30 star blocks.

Assembling the Quilt
From the vintage white fabric, cut two, 8" strips. Cut the strips into forty-nine, 1 1/2" x 8" sashes. Cut two, 1 1/2" squares from each of the print fabrics to use as cornerstones. Join 5 blocks with sashes between. Press towards the sashes. Make 6 rows of 5 blocks (see illustration 4).

Make 5 rows of 5 horizontal sashes with 4 cornerstones. Press towards the sashes (see illustration 5).

Join the rows of blocks and horizontal sashes. Press the seams towards the sashes.

Borders
Cut five, 1 1/2 " strips of white. Cut two strips the width of the quilt. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press towards the sashing.

Measure the quilt through the length. Piece two borders to this length. Sew to the sides of the quilt and press towards the sashes.

From each of the prints, cut four, 2" strips. Cut into fourteen, 2" x 5" border strips.

Sew 29 border strips together for the top and bottom of the quilt. Press all one direction. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt.*

Sew 41 border strips together for the sides. Press all one direction. Sew to the sides of the quilt.* To cut the angled corners, draw a line from seam line to seam line on the three corner strips. Cut on that line.

* If the borders don't fit exactly, sew a few of the seams a little deeper. It won't be noticeable on the finished quilt, and your borders will lie nice and flat. Stardance Pattern

 

Finishing the Quilt
Cut backing and batting 4" larger than the quilt top. Baste the layers together, then quilt as desired. Before binding, hand-baste a scant quarter inch from the edge of the quilt.

Cut the binding 2 1/4" wide. Join the strips with a diagonal seam, pressed open. Press the binding in half, wrong sides together. Sew to the edge of the quilt with a 1/4" seam. Stitch the folded edge to the back side by hand, covering the stitching.

Don't forget to sign and date your quilt!
