Trim Line -- Cut here after all rows are joined.

This design is based on a Hexagon and Triangle templates. It can be used with any size template shape. Template instructions give the necessary strip widths to cut.

To figure fabric need, determine total number of units for project. Divide the total by the amount yielded per strip, this gives the total number of strips needed. (For example, approximately 8 hexagons and 24 triangles can be cut from a 42" strip (cut the width of the fabric, selvage to selvage). 42 inches divided by 8 hexagons per strip = 5 strips).

Now multiply the height of the strip needed by the total number of strips (4 1/2" cut height times 5 strips = 22.5" or 5/8 of a yard). Don't forget to figure in border strips if you are adding them. Use the design sheet to figure the size and color of your project.

TO ASSEMBLE:

UnitsEnd Unit:
Sew one triangle to one side of a hexagon. Two end units are needed for each row.

Basic Unit:
Sew one triangle to one side of a hexagon. Sew another triangle to the opposite side of the hexagon.

To Assemble Rows:
Sew the straight side of one end unit to a straight side of a basic unit. Continue to sew basic units together, end row with an end unit. Sew rows together, offsetting units as shown on design sheet. Trim edges as shown in illustration.
